THE CITY COUNCIL OF SIDI IFNI WANTS AND PURCHASES TO FLOURISH AS A MULTI-CULTURAL INTERNATIONAL CITY WHERE PEOPLE ARE VALUED EQUAL , WHERE THEY CHOOSE TO LIVE , LEARN , WORK OR PLAY.WE DO WELCOME ALL TO VISIT US AND STAY WITH LOVE TO IFNI 'S WORLD , BUT WE DO NOT WELCOME ANY ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOR , CRIMES , VIOLANCE AGAINS ANY MEMBER OR GUEST OF THE CITY OF SIDI IFNI .

HISTORY

In 1476, Sidi Ifni was occupied by Spain. It remained in Spanish hands until 1524 when it was recaptured by Saadian rulers.In 1860, Morocco reconoced Sidi Ifni ( WHY ? )to Spain as a part of the Treaty of Tangiers. During the scramble of Africa in 1884, Spain was ceded what is now Western Sahara and administered Ifni as the capital of the Western Sahara till 1969, due to intern crisis and extern pressure, Spain finally ceded Ifni to Morocco ( why ? ).
Ifni was one of the last places that the Spanish left, in 1969, 13 years the rest of Morocco got its independence. And then quite involuntarily: The Moroccans closed all overland transport, and made it difficult for the little town to survive by itself.( visit the forum and leave your comment regarding IFNI and the new challenges .)
Since 1969 Ifni feels almost as isolated now as then. Unlike the others western sahara cities ifni has started a go back fall , loosing all its symboles , air-port damaged, markets unhealthy and out control , all the zoo animales moved to others morrokon cities or killed ,by 2005:more than 3333 trees cuts down and roads are narrow and winding, the city use to have the same movie as any european city , now there is no cinema , used to have own radio , the hospital used to have the same equipment like Madrid : that all has moved to Agadir , the city used to have good taxi and bus services now all the parking is damaged , more and more problems due to the northest policy and some false leaders toward this city, the majority of the citizens immigrated or assilment seeker in EU or living of charity from EU .

THE CITY DOES NEED :

The city council urgently needs to upgrade its health services , to adopt a fresh approach to the problem of environmental damage , to launch some plans to modernate its regeneration to have responsibility for maintaining and monitoring the environment of the region and to be concerned with maintaining and improving standards of public health, environmental cleanliness food safety, occupational health and safety, building control, public safety and consumer protection.



I- The council should do :

The enforcement of legislation throughout the City of sidi ifni must be carried out via:
the monitoring of building regulations and minimum technical standards,the inspection of premises for food safety( schools and hospital ), health and safety(in the port and market) and consumer protection purposes the transport regulation, taxi and " lawawa").Scientific sampling and analysis (baths and pool ), calibration and testing.
High standards of public health must be encouraged( in schools) and the well-being of citizens provided for by offering the following:

Consumer and general enforcement advice
Refuse collection and waste disposal ( recycling)
Street cleansing service
Landfill site maintenance
Noise and pest control measures

Environmental Protection Services actively must seek out working partnerships where the co-ordination of service delivery with similar providers can lead to a better service for customers and stakeholders.

1: Save our legacy and heritage :

You can become a M.E.S.T member :
A good steward of ifni's finite and irreplaceable archaeological or cultural legacy (Muggar,fulklor,leterature ( old stories like Aisha kandesha ...)).

Our parks and gardins ( create more green areas and planting more trees: remember that we have lost 350 trees in the city and 5000 trees out side the city , 70% are Arguenn by 2001) , montaingne and sea : the city council should act positively to protect and regenerate the beach and create a no-fishing zone alongside the city .
Because the past is our common destiny, please help us prevent the destruction of the human nad natural record in sidi ifni.
Encourage all poeple to creat some pateos : green areas in their own houses or streets using the local plantes.
Become an advocate for the protection of our nation's archaeological,cultural and tradition heritage.
Tell your children and friends about the scientific and heritage our cultural values,historical and archaeological sites of the souss and hassanies tribes in the city of ifni .
Give your support to local and national efforts to preserve the remnants of our past and ask for some international help .
Leave any archaeological sites or fossil ivory that you find on public lands in place and report the location to the nearest state agency office.
Be aware of suspicious activity near known sites on public lands. Report digging for artifacts to the Archaeological Resources Crime Hot line.
Report and denounce all illegal trade in artifacts or archaeological ivory and bone using the internet.
